Managers try to control people who work for them:
“Do as I say (because I have the authority to tell you what to do)!“
Leaders give control away to people they work for:
“You have my permission to try this and if it doesn’t work, I’ll support you so you can try again. You got this. I believe in you. What do you need from me to get started?“
Which one are you?
If you’re a manager, pretending to be a leader…grow up. You’re better than that. We need your leadership to shine a light on those who have answers you don’t.
Your job as a leader is to serve others so THEY can flourish and share their gifts with us.
Don’t rob them (and yourself) of that opportunity.
Together, let’s lead!
